The TextUs Chrome extension brings the features of the TextUs web app to your CRM, ATS, or any website you view in your Google Chrome browser. Follow the steps below to install the TextUs Chrome extension, set your extension preferences, pin the extension to your browser, and open the extension.
Important Note: If you were previously using the TextUs Next Extension, you'll need to remove the Next extension from your browser before you begin using the new TextUs Chrome extension. See the steps below to learn how.
Step 1: Install the TextUs Chrome extension
To install the TextUs Chrome extension, complete the following steps:
Go to the TextUs Chrome Extension page in the Chrome Web Store.
Click Add to Chrome.
Click Add extension in the permissions pop-up window.
Step 2: Set your extension preferences
On the Extensions Options pop-up, use the options below to configure your preferences for the TextUs Chrome extension:
Log in with: Sets the default login method when accessing the TextUs Chrome extension. If you are a TextUs customer, you'll keep the TextUs (default) option selected.
Use Click-to-Text: Enables or disables the click-to-text feature. Note: This feature is only supported for the Salesforce, Bullhorn, and Microsoft Dynamics integrations.
Use Conversation Matching: If enabled (toggled blue), when using click-to-text, the Chrome extension will immediately open the matching conversation for the contact.
Since the changes you set are automatically applied, you can close out of this window once you're done. To re-access the Extension Options, go to Manage Extensions, click Details for the TextUs Chrome Extension, then Extension Options.
Step 3: Pin the TextUs Chrome Extension
After you complete the installation process, click the extensions icon to the right of the address bar in your Chrome browser. In the Extensions list that displays, click the Pin icon next to the TextUs Chrome Extension.
This will pin the Chrome extension in your browser, making it easier to access and allowing you to see the notification badge when you have new inbound messages.
Step 4: Open the TextUs Chrome Extension
Click the pinned TextUs icon to the right of the address bar in your Chrome browser, then select Open side panel.
Updating the TextUs Chrome extension
Your Chrome browser should keep your TextUs Chrome extension up-to-date automatically. When a new version of the extension is released, most users will have their Chrome Extensions automatically updated within 0-48 hours with no additional action required.
Note: To remove the TextUs Chrome extension from your browser, click the extensions icon in your Google Chrome browser, then go to Manage Extensions. From there, you'll locate the TextUs Next Extension, then click Remove.
Remove the TextUs Next extension (Legacy)
If you were previously using the TextUs Next Extension, you'll need to remove the Next extension from your browser before you begin using the new TextUs Chrome extension. Follow the steps below to remove the TextUs Next extension (Legacy).
At the top right of your Google Chrome browser, click the three dot
menu and select Extensions > Manage extensions.
Under TextUs Next Extension, click Remove, then click Remove again to confirm. The Next extension will then be removed from your Chrome browser.
Note: While intended for use in Google Chrome, our Chrome extension also works in a Microsoft Edge browser. The installation instructions on this page still apply, just ensure that you have Allow extensions from other stores enabled in your Edge extension settings.
