How to set up SSO in TextUs with Okta
Updated over a week ago

You can enable Single Sign-On (SSO) with Okta for your TextUs account to allow your users to easily and securely log in the TextUs web app, mobile app, and Chrome extension.

This guide provides you with instructions for configuring service provider-initiated (SP-initiated) SSO with Okta. Note that SSO Okta for TextUs users can only authenticate users that already exist in your TextUs account. It does not provision new users, update a user’s TextUs password, or update user metadata from their Okta profile.

Getting started with Okta SSO

Note: Your Okta admin should complete the steps in this guide to ensure your configuration has the correct account settings and permissions.

The TextUs application is configured for OIDC (OpenID Connect). To integrate Okta SSO with your TextUs account, complete the following steps:

Step 1: Configure your Okta account

Note: When configuring your Okta account, your Okta users must have an active TextUs account, and their Okta login email must match their TextUs login email.

  1. Log in to Okta as an administrator, then click the Admin button to access the administrator dashboard.

  2. On the sidebar menu, click Applications, then select Applications in the dropdown.

  3. On the Applications page, click Browser App Catalog.

  4. Under Browse App Integration Catalog, enter “TextUs” in the search field and select TextUs OIDC from the results.

  5. Click Add Integration to add the app to your organization.

  6. On the Add TextUs page under General settings, enter an optional application label or use the default label.

  7. Click Done.

  8. Go to the Assignments tab, then click the Assign dropdown to add people or groups to your integration.

    • If you select Assign to People, you must add each individual user to your TextUs SSO integration.

  9. After you finish adding users, click the Sign On tab and copy the following information:

    • Client ID

    • Client Secret

    • Okta Domain

  • You will need to provide this information to the TextUs Support team when requesting your Okta SSO configuration.

Step 2: Request the configuration

Next, submit a support request to the TextUs Help Center to enforce SSO through Okta. The following is an example support request:

Please enable the following domains for Okta SSO to our TextUs account for Example Organization. We have authorized the TextUs application in Okta already.

  • My email domain is: @example.com

  • The URL to my Okta installation is: example.okta.com

  • The Client ID: XXXXXXX

  • The Client Secret is: XXXXXXX

A TextUs support representative will contact you to confirm the start date and time for Okta SSO enforcement.

When setup is complete, your users will be able to log in to TextUs using Okta from the login screen of the web app, mobile app, or Chrome extension. If you have any questions or issues during the setup process, contact TextUs Support.
