Create your first group
Updated today

Creating groups allows you to save frequently used segments of your contacts so that you can easily send them campaigns or enroll them in sequences all at once. In this guide, we’ll walk through how to create a contact group so that you can take advantage of this feature in your messaging.

Step 1: Add a new group

First, click on Groups in your top navigation bar to go to the Groups page. Then, click the Add Group button in the top left corner of the page to start creating your new group.

Step 2: Name your group

Next, you’ll need to name your group. In the Group Name field, type the name of your new group. This can be changed at any time (we’ll go over that in a few steps), so no need to worry if you later decide that you don’t like the name you chose. When you’re done typing your name, click Create Group.

Step 3: Add contacts to your group

Now our new group is created, but it’s empty. It’s time to add some contacts! On your group’s page, click the plus icon on the bottom right corner to open up the Add Contacts to Group window.

Next, select the contacts you want to add to your group by checking the box to the left of each of their names. After you’ve selected all of the contacts you want to add, click the Add Contacts icon on the top right of the window.

Step 4: View your group

After you’ve finished adding your contacts to your group, you’re ready to start using it! You can send a campaign straight from your group’s page by clicking the Send Campaign button. You will also be able to select this group when creating a campaign from the Campaigns page (for a guide on how to do that, see Send your first campaign).

If you’d like to edit the name of your group, click the pencil icon in the top right corner of the page. You can also always add more contacts following the same process we described above, or remove contacts by checking the boxes next to their names and then clicking the trash icon.

You’ve now finished creating your first group! We hope this step-by-step guide was helpful in walking you through that process. For more in-depth information on contact groups, see our Contact groups article and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions here.
