By connecting TextUs to Zapier's extensive ecosystem, you can easily automate your TextUs workflows with triggers and actions from over 8,000 different applications. This integration makes it possible to drive engagement in countless new ways, including but not limited to the following:
Opt-out/ins: Easily add or remove contacts from your subscribed lists in Google sheets or a similar software based on contact communication preferences in real-time
SMS reminders: Automatically send SMS messages for key triggers like calendar events, abandoned shopping carts, and form enrollment
Create/Update Contacts: Add tags, notes, or alter key data about the contact when an update occurs in your chosen system of record
Enroll in sequences: Directly enroll all contacts who filled out a web form into a specific sequence
This article describes how to set up the connection between Zapier and your TextUs account as well as how to build TextUs triggers and actions into your Zapier workflows (Zaps).
Setting up your TextUs connection
To set up your TextUs connection within Zapier, complete the following steps:
Login to your Zapier account.
Go to the Apps Connections page.
Under the Connections tab, click the Add connection button.
In the search field, type “TextUs” and select the TextUs option.
Note: Do not select “TextUs 1.0.0” if it displays as a result. This is the beta version that is not for general use and will soon be deprecated.
Click Add connection.
In order to connect to your TextUs account, you will be prompted to enter two important credentials: Connecting User’s API Key and Connecting User’s Account slug.
To obtain the Connecting User’s API Key, please follow this guide to creating an API token. You must do this with an organization admin account. If you do not use an organization admin account, the key will fail.
To obtain the Connecting User’s Account slug, log in to your organization admin account on next.textus.com. In your browser, copy the URL for the page you are currently on. The account slug is located as follows in that URL:
next.textus.com/ACCOUNT-SLUG/inbox/open
. For example, inhttps://next.textus.com/example-org/inbox/open
, the Connecting User’s Account slug is example-org.
After inputting your credentials, click Yes, Continue to TextUs and complete the connection process.
This process only has to be done once. All messages sent through Zapier workflows will come from the organization admin user whose account is used for this authentication.
Building a Zap using TextUs actions and triggers
Once your TextUs connection has been set up, you can now add TextUs actions and triggers into your Zaps. Zaps are what Zapier calls workflows that connect your applications. They are made up of triggers and actions. Simply put, triggers start a workflow and actions are the events that occur during the workflow. To read more about what a Zap is and how to build one, please see Zapier’s Zaps quick start guide as well as their Zaps collection of articles.
Each Zap is built to fit your desired workflow, so they will all look different depending on what you are automating. We recommend you consult the above Zapier materials to learn about how a Zap can best suit your needs. You can also use the Copilot feature within Zapier for advice on how to accomplish your goal using a Zap. For example templates using TextUs events, see our Zapier integration page.
When building your Zap, you will be prompted to add Actions and Triggers. The TextUs connection provides a set of predefined actions and triggers from our platform that you can choose from. A full list of the available actions and triggers can be found at the bottom of this page.
To add a TextUs trigger, complete the following steps:
Open the Zap editor.
Select the Trigger box.
In the search bar, search and select TextUs.
In the setup window that pops up, select the Trigger event.
Under Account, select the connection that you set up earlier in this guide.
Click Continue.
Test your trigger. To learn more about this process, see How Zap triggers work.
Proceed with creating your Zap.
The process for adding an action is similar to the above. To add a TextUs action, complete the following steps:

Select the Action box.
In the search bar, search and select TextUs.
In the setup window that pops up, select the Action event.
