The Flagged content settings page allows you to add custom words or phrases that you would like to be flagged by our message quality indicator to prevent their use in outgoing messages.
What is the message quality indicator
As a core feature of Smart Delivery, our message quality indicator provides immediate feedback on the quality of your message as you are writing it to prevent deliverability issues and maintain compliance with SMS regulations.
When you compose your message, you will see a shield icon that changes color in accordance with your message quality indicator score (MQI score). Each instance of profanity, spammy language, or otherwise unwanted content will lower your score. The impact to your score will be based on the amount of flagged content and the severity of the content itself.
Your score is indicated by the color and status of the progress bar below the shield icon.
A high MQI score indicates a high quality message, and is represented by the color blue. The progress bar is shown as full.
A moderate MQI score is indicated by the colors yellow and orange. The progress bar is shown as less than full, suggesting further revisions before sending.
A low MQI score is represented by the color red. The progress bar is shown as almost empty. If your progress bar reaches the empty position, you will not be able to send your message due to your extremely low MQI score.
To see more detailed information about the quality of your message, click on the shield icon. This will display any content that has negatively impacted your score.
Custom flagged content
The message quality indicator is built to detect and flag profanity and spammy language. If you would like it to flag words or phrases that are not included in this baseline set of content, you can add your own flagged content and customize the impact that this content has on your MQI score.
Note: Any added content will be flagged both on the account it was added on and on any child accounts of that account. Child accounts cannot delete flagged content that was added by a parent account.
Content categories
When adding a piece of flagged content, you will be asked to select a category for that content. You should select the category that best describes the reason the content you are adding should not be used in messages. The category you choose will then be displayed to any user who includes that content in their message in order to explain to them why its usage is discouraged.
Note: Content categories are separate from severity levels. Categories have no bearing on how much the content will impact the MQI score of a message.
For example, the category “Not allowed” will not automatically trigger a high level of impact to the MQI score, since severity is set separately. To configure the severity of the content, use the severity level slider as described below.
Severity levels
When you create a new piece of flagged content, you will be asked to choose its severity. The content’s severity determines how much its usage impacts the message’s MQI score.
Higher severity values have a greater effect. If a message contains a piece of content with the highest severity rating (“Very high”), the ability to send your message will be disabled until that content has been removed.
Adding flagged content
To add custom flagged content, complete the following steps:
Go to Settings.
Under Messaging Settings, Click on Messages, and then Flagged content.
Under Create new flagged content, enter the following information:
In the Content box, type the content that you would like to be flagged.
Open the Category dropdown to select the category that best describes why this content should be flagged.
Set the Severity for this content. The severity determines how much the presence of this content will impact your message’s quality score. High severity content will have a large impact on your score, while low severity will have a smaller impact.
Click Create.
Your entry will now appear in the Flagged content list on the bottom of the page.
Removing flagged content
