The TextUs embedded messenger in HubSpot makes it easy for you to send and receive text messages with your contacts from HubSpot using your TextUs account.
What’s included
The TextUs embedded messenger brings the following TextUs features to your HubSpot integration:
Two-way text messaging: Send and receive text messages using all the formatting and personalization options available in the TextUs web app.
Manage conversations: Organize your inbox by using the Conversations Options menu to star or unstar a contact, or add them to a group. You can also add your contacts to campaigns and sequences created in the TextUs web app.
View and update contact details: Use the Contact Info menu to view and edit a contact’s information or log notes directly to your HubSpot account.
Open the embedded messenger
To open the embedded messenger in HubSpot, go to the Contacts page and select a contact from the list. On the page listing the contact properties, go to the right sidebar and scroll down to the TextUs Embedded Messenger dropdown, then click Open Conversation.
Tip: You can rearrange the order of the right sidebar menus by selecting an item, then dragging and dropping it to a new position.
Add a HubSpot contact to your TextUs account
Before you can begin sending your HubSpot contacts text messages, you will need to add them to your TextUs account. To add a HubSpot contact to your TextUs account:
On the right sidebar under TextUs Embedded Messenger, click Open Conversation. If prompted, log in using your TextUs credentials.
In the embedded messenger view, enter the contact’s name and phone number in the empty fields.
Click Add. After the contact is added, you can begin sending them messages with the embedded messenger.
Start a conversation
After you have added a HubSpot contact to your TextUs account, you can create a new conversation with the TextUs embedded messenger by completing the steps below.
Tip: Use the account dropdown menu to switch between accounts and send a message from a different messaging account in your TextUs organization.
On the right sidebar under TextUs Embedded Messenger, click Open Conversation. If the contact is already added to TextUs, the conversation view will display.
Write your message in the message field. You can use the message options to add any customizations you’d like, such as your signature, emojis, or personalizations.
To send your message, click Send.
Schedule a message to send later
When you create a draft message in a conversation, you can schedule a date and time to deliver the message by clicking the dropdown arrow next to Send and selecting Send Later. Use the settings on the Send Later view to schedule the message’s send date and time, then click Schedule.
To view your scheduled messages, go to the TextUs web app, then click Inbox > My Scheduled.
Manage conversations with batch actions
You can use the three dot Conversation Options menu in the embedded messenger to quickly access features that help you organize and manage your TextUs conversations. Note that the Conversations Options menu and the features listed in the table below are only available after a contact has replied to your message.

Star | Marks the conversation as important and moves it to the Starred folder in TextUs. |
Unstar | Unstars the conversation and removes it from the Starred folder in TextUs. |
Add to group | Allows you to add the contact to an existing group. |
Enroll in sequence | Allows you to add the contact to an existing sequence (if your account has an active Sequences license). |
Manage a contact’s information
To manage a TextUs contact’s information in the embedded messenger, click the Contact Info icon. You can then use the slide-out menu to update the contact using the options below.
Edit a contact
Click the pencil icon to update the contact’s name, business name, and phone number. You can also add an additional contact phone number by clicking +Add Number.
Add or remove tags
Tags help you organize and quickly find a contact based on a specific label. To add a tag, click the Tags dropdown menu, then enter one or two words associated with the contact in the Add or create tags field. For example, “Denver” or “sales lead”.
Add notes
Notes allow you to capture short details about the contact, which you and other users in your organization can use as reminders or to store important information about the contact. To add a note, click the Notes dropdown menu, then click Create Note to enter information in the empty field, and click Submit to save your note.
View conversations
To view the ongoing conversations you’ve had with the contact, open the Your Conversations dropdown. You can also view the conversations other users in your organization have had with the contact on the Other Conversations menu.
Manually opt-out the contact
To manually opt-out the contact, click the three dot Phone Options menu on the right side of the Contact Info menu, then select Opt Out Number.
Block the contact
Blocking a contact stops the contact from messaging the number assigned to your TextUs account. Note that blocked contacts can receive your messages, but are not able to send you messages. To block a contact, click the three dot Phone Options menu on the right side of the Contact Info menu, then select Block Number.
