Enable user personalization variables

User personalization variables allow your users to quickly send URLs or other information (such as an email address, phone number, or other content) in conversation by clicking the User Personalization icon in the message options toolbar.

Note: This setting is available to admins and org admins only. You can configure this setting for all accounts in your organization by logging in as an admin and configuring this setting on your organization account.

To enable user personalization variables for your account's users, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to the Settings > Organization Settings > User Personalization page.

  2. Click Create New.

  3. On the Add User Personalization pop up, enter the information below.

    • Select a personalization type: Select the type of personalization you want to enable for your users. Possible values are:

      • Date (MM-DD): A date in the format MM-DD.

      • Date (MM-DD-YYYY): A date in the format MM-DD-YYYY.

      • Email: An email address in the format [email protected].

      • Number (00.00): A number with decimals, such as a currency.

      • Phone number: A phone number in E.164 format.

      • Text: A text string, such as a business name. Maximum 70 characters.

      • URL: A hyperlink that redirects a user to a web URL, such as a calendar link or website.

    • Personalization Name: A name for the personalization variable.

    • Personalization Description: A description for the personalization variable.

  4. Click Add to save your changes.


How to add user personalization variable to a message

After a user personalization variable is enabled for your account, user in your account can customize each variable's content by completing the following steps:

  1. Click your profile picture on the top right of the screen, then click Profile.

  2. On the left sidebar, click User Personalization.

  3. Enter the desired information in the available field.

  4. Click Save to update your settings.

Next, open a conversation with a contact and click the Personalize icon on the message options toolbar. You can find your customized user personalization variables listed under the You tab.
