The TextUs integration for Workday ATS and HRIS connects your TextUs accounts with your Workday instance so that you can do the following:
Import phone numbers from Workday into TextUs using the TextUs Chrome extension.
Send and receive text messages with candidates and employees in your Workday account using the TextUs web app, Chrome extension, or mobile app.
Log your team’s text conversations back to Workday candidate records (not supported for Employee records).
Getting started with your Workday integration
Note: Your Workday admin should complete the steps in this guide to ensure your integration has the correct account settings and permissions. This process should only need to be completed one time.
Before you authenticate the integration within TextUs, you will need to gather the following information from your Workday account:
ISU Username
ISU Password
Web Services Endpoint URL
We recommend that you write each of these down as we guide you through where to find them so that when you enable your integration within TextUs you can easily copy over each required credential.
Step 1: Set up your integration system user (ISU)
Complete the steps in the sections below to set up your integration system user (ISU).
Log in to your Workday account as an administrator.
In the search box, enter Create Integration System User.
Select the Create Integration System User task.
In the Account Information section, enter a username, and enter and confirm a password. This is your ISU username and ISU password. Save these credentials in a place you can access later, as you’ll need them to authenticate your integration.
Important note: The characters "&", "<", and ">" cannot be included in the password.
Click OK.
To prevent this password from expiring, you should then add your new ISU to the list of System Users. To do this, use the search box to look for the Maintain Password Rules task and select it.
Add your new ISU to the System Users exempt from password expiration field and click OK.
Step 2: Create an integration system security group
Next, create an integration security group and assign your new ISU to the group:
In the search box, enter Create Security Group and select the Create Security Group task.
On the Create Security Group page, click the Type of Tenant Security Group dropdown and select Integration System Security Group (Unconstrained).
In the Name field, enter a name for the group. For example, ISSG_TEXTUS_UNCONSTRAINED.
Click OK.
On the Edit Integration System Security Group (Unconstrained) page, go to the Integration Systems User field and input the ISU username you created in the previous section.
Click OK.
Step 3: Configure domain security policy permissions
Complete the following steps below to grant domain security policy permissions:
In the search box, enter Maintain Permissions for Security Group and select the Maintain Permissions for Security Group task.
Set Operation to Maintain, and enter the name of the security group that you created in the previous section in the Source Security Group field.
Click OK.
On the next screen, click the + button underneath Domain Security Policy Permissions to add the following permissions:
Step 4: Activate security policy changes
To activate your security policy changes, complete the following steps:
In the search box, enter Activate Pending Security Policy Changes and select the Activate Pending Security Policy Changes task.
On the Activate Pending Security Policy Changes menu, enter ISSG Creation in the Comment field.
Click OK.
On the next page, select the checkbox for Confirm.
Click OK to save your settings.
Step 5: Validate the authentication policy
To validate your authentication policy, complete the following steps:
In the search box, enter Manage Authentication Policies and select the Manage Authentication Policies task.
Click Edit on the Authentication policy row.
Under Authentication Allowlist and then Authentication Ruleset, click the + button to create a new Authentication Rule.
Enter the following information:
Authentication Rule Name: can be anything
Security Group: The name of the security group you created in Step 2
Authentication Condition Name: can be anything
Authentication Conditions: Any
Allowed Authentication Types: either Specific: User Name Password or Any.
To activate the changes you just made, go to the search box and enter Activate All Pending Authentication Policy Changes. Select the Activate All Pending Authentication Policy Changes task.
Proceed to the next screen and confirm your changes.
Note: You don't have to create a new Authentication Rule if you already have an existing one with Allowed Authenticated Types set to Specific: User Name Password or Any. You can add the security group you created to that rule instead.
You will need to create a new rule if SAML is the only Authentication Rule you see for "Allowed Authentication Types."
Step 6: Fetch the Web Services Endpoint URL
Next you will need to fetch the Web Services Endpoint URL from your web service. You will need this information to complete the integration process in the TextUs web app.
In the search box, enter Public Web Services and select the Public Web Services report.
Click the three dots next to Recruiting.
Select Web Service > View WSDL.
On the page that loads (it may take a few moments to appear), search for “soapbind:address”. It should appear under RecruitingService for ATS, and Human_ResourcesService for HRIS.
Copy the full URL on the “soapbind:address” line. It should have a similar format to https://wd2-impl-services1.workday.com/ccx/service/acme/Human_Resources/v43.0. This is your Web Services Endpoint URL. Save this alongside your other credentials (ISU username and password) to use in the next section.
Step 7: Enable the Workday integration in TextUs
Now that you have completed the configuration process in your Workday account, complete the following steps to enable your Workday integration in TextUs:
Log in to next.textus.com with your org admin user account.
Click on your user icon and go to Accounts.
On the Accounts page, find your org account at the top of the account hierarchy and click View.
Go to Settings > Organization settings > Integrations.
Under Available integrations, find the Workday: ATS or Workday: HRIS box and click Connect.
Enter the following information:
Username: Your ISU username.
Password: Your ISU password.
Web Services Endpoint URL: The endpoint address copied from the WSDL.
Click Authorize.
The integration process is complete. Workday ATS or HRIS will now display under Connected on the Integrations page.
Switching to Workday: ATS from Workday (Legacy)
If you are currently using the previous version of the TextUs Workday integration, we ask that you switch to the Workday: ATS integration by June 23rd 2025.
To set up the Workday: ATS integration, you can use the same authentication details that you used to set up the previous version of the integration. We suggest that you review the steps above and check to ensure that your ISU and security group have all the required permissions, particularly those listed in Step 3.
