Keywords
Updated over a week ago

Keywords allow you to create automated pre-written responses that are sent whenever your contacts reply with a specific word or set of words. Each of your keyword responses can be customized by including images, templates, signatures, and personalizations.

Additionally, when your contacts reply with a keyword they will be automatically added to a keyword subscriber group that you can use for future retargeting.

Note: This feature is only available for messaging accounts with a Keywords license. For more information on how to purchase a license, contact your TextUs Account Manager. To apply a license you've already purchased, see Assign premium feature licenses.

Create a keyword

Creating a keyword makes it available to anyone who responds to your message with that keyword. For best results, keep your keywords to one or two words and avoid long words or short phrases. The longer and more complex a keyword is, the greater chance there is of a contact making a mistake that causes the automation not to run.

Tip: Organization admins can set a keyword that will be active for all messaging accounts that have a Keyword license by creating a keyword in their organization account.

To create a keyword for your account, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Automation > Keywords and click Create New.

  2. On the Create Keyword pop up, enter the following information:

    • In the Keyword field, enter one or more words to trigger the automated response.

    • In the Auto Response Message text box, enter the automated response.

  3. Click Create to save your keyword.

Edit or delete a keyword

You can edit or delete your keywords by going to the keywords page. Use the pencil icon to edit the keyword message, or use the trash can icon to delete the keyword.

Reactive a keyword

You can reactivate deleted keywords at any time by completing the following steps:

  1. On the Keywords page, click the Deleted Keywords dropdown menu.

  2. Click the refresh icon under the Manage column.

Note: You cannot create a new keyword if that exact keyword is listed under the Deleted Keywords dropdown menu. You will need to reactivate the keyword to be able to use it again.
