Getting started for new organization admins
Updated over a week ago

As an organization admin, you can configure and manage settings in the TextUs web app for messaging accounts in your organization. This guide will help you guide you through some of the most common setup steps when getting started with TextUs.

Step 1: Access your organization account

To manage your organization's settings, you will first need to access your organization account:

  1. Log in to next.textus.com with your org admin user account.

  2. Click on your user icon and go to Accounts.

  3. On the Accounts page, find your org account at the top of the account hierarchy and click View.

From here, any settings you change in your organization account will also be updated for any of your organization's messaging accounts below it. As a note, you'll need to lock any settings you don't want others to adjust on their messaging accounts.

Step 2: Configure important account settings

You can control messaging features in the TextUs web app by using the Settings menu. The sections below list some of the most important and commonly used settings.

Note: For more information on configuring your organization's inbox and messaging settings, see Settings.

Set character limits for messages and campaigns

To adjust the character limits for messages and campaigns, use the following settings:

Create an intro message

An intro message is included with the first outbound text message sent to a contact from a messaging account. We recommend creating an intro message to identify your organization to new contacts and ensure opt-out language is included in your first text communication.

Step 3: Set up your integrations

TextUs supports integrations with many of the most popular CRM and ATS platforms. After you complete the integration process, you can import phone numbers directly to TextUs, log conversations as notes, and use TextUs messaging features directly in your browser-based CRM or ATS. See Integrations for more information.

Step 4: Assign premium feature licenses (if applicable)

If you have access to premium features such as Campaigns Pro, Keywords, or Sequences, you will need to assign licenses to messaging accounts under Settings > Organization Settings > Account Configuration. For more detailed steps, see Assign premium feature licenses.

Tip: If your organization has purchased Campaigns Pro, make sure you set up a custom subdomain so your team can use branded shortened links across their text communications.

Step 5: Understand how to add and manage messaging accounts

As an organization admin, you will be responsible for managing messaging accounts in your organization. We recommend getting familiar with how to add new messaging accounts or remove existing messaging accounts for your organization. For more information, see Add or remove messaging accounts.

Step 6: Understand how to manage team members

As an organization admin, you will be responsible for managing team members in your organization, along with their access to their messaging accounts. It's important to get familiar with roles and permissions in TextUs and learn how to add or remove team members in your organization. For more information, see Add or remove users.

Important Note: Adding a new user to TextUs will not automatically create a new messaging account. You will need to request a new messaging account using the steps outlined in Add or remove messaging accounts.
